With an established Data Pool and a long track record in collaborative e-commerce, the consumer products community in The Netherlands sees Data Quality as one of the key pillars supporting Global Data Synchronisation. To achieve the levels of Data Quality needed to underpin a successful GDS program GS1 NL realised it needed a sustainable Data Quality program for the long term that was based on continuous monitoring to ensure Data Quality levels are improved and maintained over time.

Solution

Following a pilot with 10 suppliers in the second half of 2010, GS1 NL is now rolling out Clavis Data Validation Services to all its 900 suppliers. The GS1 DAS Data Quality Checker powered by Clavis Technology brings visibility to Data Quality issues in product data published to the GS1 DAS Data Pool. The solution analyses data attributes in the Data Pool against a defined set of Data Quality Tests and presents the results in a Data Quality Dashboard for each supplier company.

The Dashboard is updated on a weekly basis. It shows a company’s Data Quality Score and enables data managers to drill into the detail of data that has failed any of the required tests for the GS1 DAS Data Pool. Based on the results highlighted by Clavis, GS1 DAS members can investigate errors within their own systems and processes to correct the data in the Data Pool.
